What is AllergyCertified?
AllergyCertified is an international allergy certification founded to meet the need for a global label that consumers worldwide can trust to avoid skin allergies. The certification tests products for allergens, impurities, carcinogens, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
If you have allergies, we always recommend choosing AllergyCertified and fragrance-free products. This ensures that you don't apply unnecessary ingredients to your skin that can cause allergic reactions. How to choose allergy-friendly makeup
It can be difficult to navigate what to look for if you have allergies or want to ensure that your makeup products don't contain unnecessary chemicals. The law states that claims must be correct and documented. They must be honest, reasonable, and easy to understand. However, there are rarely fixed requirements for what they should entail. Therefore, makeup and care products marketed as "sensitive", "mild", or "gentle" can still contain allergenic fragrances.
'Dermatologically tested' is a claim you often encounter. It means that the product has been tested on humans under the supervision of a dermatologist. But as a consumer, it can be difficult to know what this actually implies. There are no clear requirements for how the product was tested or what the result of the test was. 'Allergy tested', 'Clinically tested', and similar claims have the same problem.
A good rule of thumb is therefore always to look for certifications on the product packaging. Look for the allergy labels 'The Blue Wreath' or 'AllergyCertified' if you want to avoid perfume and unnecessary chemicals.
Safety and quality
There's no shame in not knowing what makeup is actually made of. The most important thing is to find a brand you trust! However, it's always a good idea to know where your makeup is produced. In Denmark, we have particularly strict rules for product content, so you can generally feel safe when buying Danish-produced makeup. Additionally, you can always ask brands for INCI lists, which provide an overview of the ingredients. On our website, you'll find them under each product, among other places.
