Blush for your makeup routine

Blush is the product that gives your cheeks life, color, and a healthy glow. While foundation and powder can even out your skin tone, blush can bring warmth back to your face, making you look fresher, more awake, and vibrant. A small touch on the cheeks can change your entire expression and beautifully tie your makeup together.

What types of blush are there and how do you choose?

There are several types of blush, each providing a different finish and feel on the skin:

  • Powder blush: The classic. Easy to work with, especially for normal, combination, or oily skin. Good if you already use powder to set your base.
  • Cream blush: Has a creamy texture that melts into the skin and gives a more natural, dewy result. Perfect for normal to dry skin or for those who love a glowing base.
  • Liquid blush: Very lightweight and often more pigmented. Good for those who want to build up the color from subtle to intense.

When choosing the right blush, consider:

  • Skin type: Dry skin often thrives better with cream or liquid, while oily skin often prefers powder blush.
  • Finish: Matte blush gives a calmer, classic look, while blush with a slight shimmer adds extra glow.
  • Shade: Light skin tones are often complemented by soft pink and peach shades. Medium skin tones can wear both warm coral and berry shades. Darker skin tones look beautiful in deeper berry, plum, and warm terracotta.

How to apply blush?

Blush is typically applied after foundation and powder (if you use it), but the order depends on the type:

  • Cream and liquid blush are best applied before powder.
  • Powder blush is applied over powder and set foundation.

Here’s how you can place blush:

  • Smile lightly and apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, gently pulling it upwards towards your temples for a lifting look.
  • For a more natural, “sun-kissed” look, you can also apply a little blush across the bridge of your nose.

Use a blush brush, makeup sponge, or your fingers (for cream/liquid) and build up the color gradually. Start with a little and add more until you achieve the intensity that suits your look.
