Warm, cool or neutral? Find your undertone
Finding the right color and undertone can be a challenge. That's why we've created a simple guide to help you find your perfect match.
Undertones can be divided into three categories
There are generally three types of undertones: cool, warm, and neutral. Your undertone influences which colors suit you best.
The warm undertone can often be seen as peachy, yellowish, or golden.
The neutral undertone means that one has neither a dominant warm nor cool undertone.
The cool undertone can have a pink, red, or bluish color.
How to find your undertone
Are you unsure about your skin's undertone? That's completely normal! Your undertone helps you choose the right makeup colors, clothes, and jewelry that enhance your natural glow. Here are some easy and effective methods to find your undertone.
1. Use a white t-shirt or a piece of paper
Find a spot with bright, but natural light. Put on a plain white t-shirt or hold a white piece of paper in front of your face so you can clearly see the difference.
- If your face looks pink or rosy, you have a cool undertone.
- If your face looks yellow, you have a warm undertone.
- If you feel you could be either, you have a neutral undertone.
2. Consider your skin's reaction to the sun
- If you get sunburned quickly, you have a cool undertone.
- If you tan easily (get color quickly), you have a warm undertone.
- If you first get sunburned and then tan, you are most likely to have a neutral undertone.
3. Consider your other features
Still in doubt? Look at your hair and eye color as a guide:
Generally, a darker skin tone and dark eyes may indicate a warm undertone, while light skin and light eyes often point towards a cool or neutral undertone.
